Did you have to book?
ReplyDeleteThe hostel only accepts 'sole occupancy' bookings during the winter months. The rest of the time, in theory, you can just roll up - although I expect booking would be more than advisable!
DeleteLooks good John
ReplyDeleteThanks Dawn, it certainly was!
DeleteALanR. I really do find sole occupancy annoying.
ReplyDeleteI agree! It's worse when they have a school party in nowadays, they may only half-fill the hostel but they won't allow anyone else in.
DeleteOn one of my backpacking trips I was not allowed to even put up my tent in their grounds even though it was a hostel that offered that facility. The reason: they had a party of school children staying int the hostel. Other YHAs have gone so upmarket they have priced themselves beyond many B and Bs whilst offering fewer facilities.
ReplyDeleteThe YHA has lost it's way. What was once a wonderful organisation, a charity in fact, now just seems focused on making money whilst ignoring the folk it was set up to benefit.
DeleteLooks good, JJ. You must pop in for a coffee when next around home...
